TES/ Blendspace

TES Teach also known as Blendspace is a free online resource that is designed to help teachers create digital lessons that can be shared with students. Teachers can create interactive lessons with their own content from the web. Students can also use TES Teach to create their own presentations or assignments as a way to showcase their understanding of topics.

There are many benefits of using TES Teach. A major benefit for students is that they can access the lessons that the teacher links from any device and from any location. Another student benefit is that lesson plans can be more "self-paced" though TES Teach. The lessons are also very easy to organize and to follow, which makes learning and staying on task easier for students.

I really enjoyed creating my first lesson withTES Teach for this assignment. I chose to do my lesson on second grade math. The standard that I chose was 2.MD.C.8. This standard focuses on using dollar bills and coins to solve word problems.

To begin my lesson, I added a money video for kids. The first video for this lesson will serve as an introduction/refresher to money and to money values. In this tile I gave students simple instructions to watch the video, to mark down important notes into their journal, and to pay attention. After watching a video students will move onto the second resource. This resource is a short quiz to assess student knowledge on coin and dollar values. My directions state that student's must get a 100% before moving on to their next activity.

The third resource I used in my lesson was a Khan academy video on money word problems. This video provides a great introduction and tutorial on how to solve money word problems. Students are to watch the video and answer the practice questions that follow. The fourth resource that I added is a "Money Bingo" game for students. This game has been linked to the lesson through ABCya.

After playing Money Bingo, students are to continue onto their fifth lesson. During this activity students will be provided money word problem task cards. Students are instructed to get with their math partner to complete these task cards. Students are to record their answers in their math journal. The final portion of this lesson is a class Kahoot. The class Kahoot will allow the teacher to assess student knowledge and understanding on the lesson. Students will be working in teams. During the Kahoot the teacher will be able to walk around to observe and listen to team discussions.

By the end of this lesson students should be able to identify each coin and its value. They should also be able to solve money word problems that involve coins and dollars. I think that I created a very fun, engaging, yet informative and educational lesson for my students. The videos and games will keep students engaged which will increase learning and productivity.
